The themes

Every theme published by Odie Themes is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later (GPL-2.0-or-later) — the same license WordPress itself uses. In plain terms, this means you can:

  • Use any theme on any number of sites, personal or commercial.
  • Use it on client sites, and charge your client for the work.
  • Modify it however you like — change the code, restyle it, strip parts out.
  • Redistribute it, including your modified version, as long as you keep it under the GPL.

There is no per-site fee, no license key, and no activation. The GPL comes with no warranty — you use the themes at your own risk — but there is nothing to buy and nothing to renew. The footer credit link is optional and removable; keeping it is appreciated but never required.

The tools

The tools on this site are free to use, with no account and no limit. They run entirely in your browser — nothing you put into them is uploaded anywhere. The code they generate (a wp-config.php, an .htaccess file, a functions.php snippet) is yours to use however you like, with no attribution required.

The written content

The guides and reference material are the work of Odie Themes. You are welcome — encouraged, even — to link to them and quote them with attribution. Please do not republish them wholesale as your own.

Was there ever a paid version?

Yes. Some themes had a paid "PRO" tier until 2022. It is discontinued, and everything that was in it is now in the free version under the GPL. There is nothing paid on this site today.
